How this estimate works
Sealant is a volume calculation. The same 180-foot run can use very different material when the fill depth or width changes. Divide a project into groups whose cross sections are approximately alike. A rectangle uses run times width times depth. A triangular cross section uses half that geometric volume. The latter is a planning approximation, not a claim that every applied bead is triangular.
The package field means usable sealant volume, after considering the package and any amount that cannot be dispensed. The default 10.1 US fluid ounces is an illustrative common cartridge size, not the actual volume of every tube. Use the label on the product being purchased. Enter handling waste separately for purge, nozzle loss, and small shape variation.
This tool estimates how many containers to buy, not a product’s compatibility, joint design, backer material, movement capacity, cure time, or preparation. A visible bead may not equal the filled joint cross section. Measure a representative section and consult the product instructions before ordering or applying.
Keep a copy of your measurements and the product information used. Recheck both before ordering, especially after a layout or supplier change.
