Calculation method
The outer door span is opening width plus both outer overlays, less the gap between two doors when used. Divide this span by door count. Door height is opening height plus top and bottom overlay. For frame-and-panel doors, stile cut length equals door height and rail cut length equals door width minus two stile widths plus two tenon depths.
Worked example: inputs to material quantity
A 30 × 24 in opening with two doors, 1/2 in outer side and vertical overlays, 1/8 in meeting gap, 2 in stiles, and 3/8 in tenons gives each door 15.4375 × 25 in. Cut four 25 in stiles and four 12.1875 in rails.
