Calculation method
Use a simple wall-origin 4 ft runner-bay grid with rows every 2 ft. Count occupied panel cells, interior main lines, 4 ft cross-tee segments, and 2 ft tees that split bays for 2 by 2 panels. Count perimeter angle by each wall separately. This schematic count does not determine suspension, edge balance, or certified layout. A centered border, light fixtures, soffits, or an irregular room can change cut distribution and hardware. Verify panel dimensions and compatible grid components from the same system, then compare this planning count with a reflected ceiling plan.
Worked example: inputs to material quantity
For a 16 × 12 ft room, 2 × 2 panels, 12 ft main pieces, 10 ft wall-angle pieces, and 10% extra: 48 cells become 53 panels, with 4 main pieces, 21 four-foot tees, 24 two-foot tees, and 8 angle pieces.
What the estimate covers
All dimensions are user-entered. Round quantities and order sizes against your supplier’s current stock; the page does not design structural, drainage, or suspension systems. The related guide explains each assumption and common measurement mistakes.
